This jacket is made from an antique American quilt made circa 1890s to 1920. It is a traditional Guthrie quilt pattern. It has been meticulously hand quilted and hand sewn, which is a labor of love and a lost art. The quilt was backed with a beautiful contrasting black floral fabric. You will want to cuff the sleeves to show this fabric off! The maker used stunning fabrics for this whole quilt, it did not come from a humble home! Black fabrics rarely stand the test of time and these are in pristine condition! For closures we used antique iridescent glass buttons that are from the Czech Republic. In our opinion, the jacket is very thin, very lightweight, has no loft loft (puffiness), and is very soft. Please note, there is sunfade on the inside of the jacket. We cut the sleeves longer if you consider yourself a petite and you want the sleeves altered, please message us after purchase and we will be happy to hem them. This is a size LARGE. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
