This is an antique American quilt top started in 1883 and completed in 1918 by M.D.S.C. We know this because the maker hand embroidered this information on the quilt. We have preserved this provenance and placed it on the center back of the jacket. It is a Scrappy or Crazy quilt pattern loaded with beautiful hand embroidery. We absolutely love the little French knots and turkey trot stitches that add interest and depth to the piece! To complete the quilt we backed this piece with coordinating turn-of-the-century reproduction fabric. You will want to cuff the sleeves to show this fabric off! This quilt contains wool fabrics from men‘s suit scraps. If you are sensitive to wool, please do not consider purchasing this piece. This jacket is thicker, heavier and loftier (has more puff)than we typically create. It is great for fall, winter weather, or colder climates. This piece would also look epic with a fur attached! We have shown a combo that we love! If you would like a fur, please reach out after purchasing and we will show you options! For closures we used bronze faux coin buttons. There are a few zig zag mends throughout that we have captured in photographs for your convenience. This is a size LARGE, please read size measurements below. This piece fits a range of sizes depending on how you like to style your jackets. If you have any questions please direct message us and we are happy to bore you with many more details.

Please note that most of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabrics reflect this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
