Every quilt has a story and many times we like to imagine what that story is. This piece we do not have to guess because it was sewn into the quilt. We have preserved the provenance on the inside. It reads; "In 1933, 19 year-old Neda Dall-olio taught in a 24 student - 8 grade on room school in rural Idaho. Vernetta, a 14 year old Native American Indian, attended Miss Dall-olio’s school near her Indian Reservation. Vernetta hand-stitched this ‘Bethlehem Star’ for her beloved teacher “Miss Dollie”. The ‘Bethlehem Star’ was given to Debra Daniels McDannaold of Columbia, Missouri by her maternal great-aunt Neda Dall-olio Gabardi in 1999. It was set, bordered and quilted by Rita Cooley Vickers of Shelbina, Missouri in March 2000."
This piece is exquisite for its crisp points and its hand sewing. This is an excellent candidate to add fur to, we have shown an option we love. We used vintage blue gem buttons as closures. This is a size LARGE, please read size measurements below. This piece fits a range of sizes depending on how you like to style your jackets. Please note that most of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabrics reflect this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
