This is an antique American quilt made circa 1930s to 1960s. It is a traditional Broken Star quilt pattern. The quilt has been beautifully hand sewn and hand quilted, which is a labor of love and a lost art. This piece was made by an absolute master. It is exquisite for its crisp points, museum-worthy hand quilting, and its elevated border. The ground color is reading pink in our photographs but it is in fact an off-white color. The backing fabric (inside of the jacket) is pink and is shining through to the front. In our opinion, the jacket is thin, lightweight, and has a very flattering drape. Please note: the sleeves are 3” longer than our standard Helen pattern. This is perfect if you like to cuff your sleeves, which we recommend in order to show off the beautiful pink fabric! We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
