This is a hand appliqued Indian blanket that we backed to make into a quilt. On top of all the hand applique, the piece is loaded with hand embroidery. The maker used the embroidery to add details to the motifs. In addition, they hand embroidered little x's throughout the whole quilt in a variety of thread colors. We love the border and were able to highlight it on the cuffs and back hem of the jacket. We backed(inside of jacket) the Indian quilt with a contrasting floral navy fabric. You will want to cuff the sleeves to show this off. In our opinion, the jacket is very soft, has a little weight and a little loft(puffiness). It is very comfortable to wear and has a great drape. Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
