The Helen Quilt Jacket - Longer Sleeves

This is an Indian Kantha quilt. It is an over-dyed indigo that was made with very luxe cotton. It is rare for us to find these beauties! It is so soft and has a beautiful and flattering drape. This piece is an absolute dream to wear and style. We love the border and were able to highlight this on the cuffs and hem of the jacket. The piece was hand block printed and hand quilted. Kantha quilts use a straight quilt stitch technique, known as a running stitch, as opposed to the tight American quilting technique. They are similar in that both techniques have been passed down from generation to generation. It is completely reversible. The sleeves are 3” longer than our standard Helen pattern. Please note: it is important to note that Kantha quilts snag much easier than American quilts. If this is something that would bother you, please consider other items. This piece is incredibly lightweight. If you live in a hot-climate this is a great piece for you. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.
• One Size Fits Most - Model is 5’4 and approximately 125lbs

 Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
