This is a Suzani quilt that Lady Lancaster found during her travels in Jaipur, India. The Suzani is a cultural and decorative tribal textile. This piece is overflowing with meticulous and dense hand embroidery. The motifs are done in bright and fun colors. Under the motifs you can seen drawn guidelines which add extra dimension and interest. The quilt is loosely hand quilted with a running stitch. We love the neon horseshoes. Lady has never met a horseshoe she didn't like! This piece is a dream to wear, it is very flattering and and easy to style. This is an excellent option for someone who lives in a warmer climate or runs hot, as it is extremely lightweight with no loft. It has a flattering drape and moves beautifully on the body. It is so comfortable to wear. Suzanis are more prone to snagging due to the amount of hand embroidery and style of stitching. Please note the sleeves are 5" longer than our standard Helen pattern. Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
