This is an antique American quilt made circa 1880s to 1920. It is a traditional Tumbling Block quilt pattern. It is a very rare quilt from the turn of the century. The fabrics in this piece are phenomenal. This was not made in a humble home. The maker backed the quilt, inside of jacket, with fabric that is referred to as turkey red. However, the fabric used on the outside of the jacket is a rust color. This color-way is very rare. The quilt has been beautifully hand quilted and hand sewn. This is what we consider to be a summer weight quilt, meaning it was made for aesthetics, not warmth. In our opinion, the jacket is thin, light weight, has little to no loft, and has a great drape. This is a Lady Lancaster 10/10. Please note: the sleeves are 2” longer than our standard Helen pattern. Overall, this quilt is in excellent condition for its age. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
