This is a crazy or scrappy quilt completed in 1892 by a woman with the initials BM, we have preserved the provenance and put it as a focal point on the pocket. The quilt contains men's shirt scraps, cottons, wools, and flannels. It is loaded with hand embroidery. The maker used a variety of different kinds of stitching techniques and thread colors. This is a museum-quality piece and should be purchased with a curator mentality. In our opinion, the jacket is thin, lightweight, and has a great drape. Please note there are a few patches that are shattered on the front that we have photographed for your convenience. The jacket looks smashing with a fur attached and we have showed you a few of our favorite options. If you would like a fur attached please reach out after purchasing. The sleeves are 3” longer than our standard Helen pattern. If you have further questions, please direct message us and we are happy to send you a video.

  • This jacket features side vents for generous movement and a beautiful drape.
  • This jacket has two snaps at the tips of the collar that secure the lapel if desired.
  • This jacket has two generous pockets.
  • Fold the architectural collar down to create a lapel if desired.
  • The Helen Jacket has a generous fit and is not meant to have a tailored look.
  • One Size Fits Most-Model is 5’4 and approximately 125lbs
  • If you have any questions about this jacket please direct message us on instagram and we will answer your question as quickly as possible. We do not accept returns. If you have any doubt please do not purchase. For sizing questions direct message us via instagram and we will be happy to send videos showing how our jackets fit.

Measurements

36” back of the neck to the bottom of the hem

36” laying flat, armpit to armpit

Please note that most of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabrics reflect this. Some fabrics can be older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
