This is a vintage Indian Kantha Quilt. Kantha quilts are hand quilted using a running or straight stitch. Similar to the American quilting technique, this tradition was passed down from generation to generation. This particular Kantha has been hand quilted by a master. The stitches are very tiny, dense and consistent. It is very very thin, soft, lightweight with no loft(puffiness), and extremely flattering drape. Since it is so thin if feels as though it is a little larger and longer than our Standard Helen pattern. If you are a petite please do not purchase this. This piece is completely reversible. This jacket is completely reversible, please see photos and videos included in this listing on our favorite ways to style this piece. This is a Lady Lancaster 10/10. We absolutely love the checkered pattern and search high and low for this style of Kantha. There are some areas of sun bleaching throughout, we have tried our best to capture this in our high res images. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
