This is an American antique quilt made 1890’s to 1920’s. It is a traditional Irish Chain quilt pattern. The quilt is beautifully hand quilted and hand sewn, which is a labor of love and a lost art. There are no words to express how rare and valuable this quilt is! It contains an excess amount of antique indigo fabrics, which is highly collectible. In our opinion, the jacket is very thin, very lightweight, and has a flattering drape. Not only is the top of the quilt overflowing with indigo fabric, but the maker backed(inside of jacket) the quilt as well, this is extraordinary! Please Note: If you are looking for a jacket to withstand heavy wear this is NOT for you. Each quilt is made for and serves different purposes in life. This is a museum-worthy and highly collectible art piece. Unlike our standard Helens, this Helen has serger seams and not French seams. Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
