This is a vintage Indian Kantha quilt. This piece is hand quilted using a running stitch or a straight stitch. In addition to the hand quilting it also contains what appears to be hand blocking. This Kantha had a rainbow ribbon border. We were able to preserve this darling accent and you can find it on the cuffs and hem of the jacket. In our opinion, this piece is, very thin, butter soft, and extremely flattering. This piece does have a little weight to it. This jacket is an absolute dream to wear. Unlike our typical style Helen Jackets, this pieces does not have French seams. We have included images of what the jacket looks like worn on the reverse for anyone interested in precocious fashion. Please note: Due to the Kantha quilting technique this pieces is more likely to snag as opposed to American quilting. If you have small children, pets, or wear a lot of jewelry this is something to consider. This pieces has a few broken stitches and a few mends from the original maker. Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
