This is an American antique quilt. It is a traditional Floral Applique quilt pattern. We believe the top was made during the mid to late 1800's and was finished at a later era. We believe because of the type of fabric used to back the quilt. The quilt is beautifully hand quilted and hand appliqued. The maker used a Blanket embroidery stitch to applique the pieces. The quilt contains some very historic Cheddar fabrics. In our opinion, this quilt is very thin, very lightweight, very soft, and has a flattering drape. There is little to no loft (puffiness). It is very hard to find neutral colored palette quilts and this piece is a true treasure! This quilt was well-loved by its previous owner! We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
