This is an American antique quilt made circa 1930's-1950's. It is a traditional Crazy quilt Pattern. This piece has been beautifully hand quilted. For added depth and interest the maker hand embroidered turkey tracks over every quilt piece and sprinkled hand tied French knots throughout. This was a true labor of love. The backing of the quilt(inside of of jacket) is a stripped quilt composed of novelty fabrics from the 30's. The quilt is a summer weight quilt, meaning it was made more for aesthetics than warmth. This piece does not contain any batting, but does have some weight to it due to the amount of embroidery. In our opinion the quilt is in excellent condition. It is very soft, thin, and has a beautiful drape. This jacket is peak into your grandma's sewing box! You will want to wear this piece inside out and cuff the sleeves. The styling possibilities are endless! Please note: the sleeves are 3" longer than our standard Helen pattern. Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
