The Helen

This is a traditional antique Indian Kantha Quilt. The print on this Kantha is so stunning and interesting, it is an absolute showstopper! This piece is quilted by hand. Kantha quilting is done with a running stitch. In our opinion this Kantha features soft, luxe cotton.  It is thin, lightweight, and extremely comfortable to wear. It is in excellent condition and is completely reversible making it 2 jackets in 1. We have included images below showing the jacket worn on both sides. PLEASE NOTE:  The sleeves are 2" longer than our standard Helen jacket style. There is a spot of color bleed on the back of the jacket. Please see photos below.  Kantha Quilt stitches are much more likely to break or snag, because they are not as tightly quilted as American Quilts. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.
• One Size Fits Most - Model is 5’4 and approximately 125lbs

 Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
