This is a traditional Indian Kantha. Over the beautiful design you can see the traditional running stitch done in a contrasting thread color. Similar to American quilt making this art form has been passed down from generation to generation. In our opinion, this quilt is extremely soft, extremely thin, very light weight, and has the perfect drape. For a more subtle look, you can wear this beauty inside out! Unlike American quilts we have found that Kantha quilts are prone to snagging. The quilting is not nearly as tight and technical, if loose kantha stitches and snagging give you a headache we would kindly redirect you to our American quilt jackets. We were able to make two jackets out of this piece, we have bound them different so they are twins, not sisters! Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
