This is an American Antique quilt made circa 1935. We know this because the maker, BKC, signed and dated their art. This provenance can be found in the inside facing of the jacket. This quilt pattern has been called many names throughout history such as Rob Peter to Pay Paul, Steeplechase, and Snowball. This piece has been meticulously hand sewn and densely hand quilted. BKC was a master quilter. It is also exquisite for its elevated zig zag border this can best be appreciated on the cuffs of the sleeves and the border of the jacket.. In our opinion this piece is very thin, very soft, very light weight, and has and excellent drape. This is Lady Lancaster 10/10! The ladies of Lancaster will all be very sad to part with this jacket. Please note: there are some pin head sized age marks that are difficult to see and a small area with some white discolorations. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
