There are no words to describe the magnitude of this quilt. This is an absolute museum quality piece. To the best of our knowledge we believe this was made circa 1920s. The hand stitches are nothing short of masterful. There is no doubt this is an absolute museum quality quilt. It is very densely hand quilted, using two different color threads. It is an autumn, leafy, botanical appliqué. Each appliqué is hand stitched around the perimeter with very skillful, tiny stitches. There is light discoloration on some of the ivory fabric. It was so light that it was very hard to capture. This quilt is in excellent overall condition. It does present some sun fade which does not affect the integrity of the fabric, but in our opinion adds depth to the overall design. This can best be seen in the solid red cotton fabric on one of the sleeves. In our opinion, this is what we call a Lady Lancaster 10/10. The quilt is thin, soft, light weight.
