This quilt coat was made from an antique American quilt. The quilt was made by Ida Myrtle, also known as “Dixie Wilson Gerdts" in the 1950s in Sedalia, Missouri. Dixie was born on April 30th,1895 and passed away on January 5th, 1984. This piece was donated for preservation by her nephew Edward Lanning, ”Lannie” Cocks. We are always beyond grateful to have the history of the quilt. We have preserved and placed this provenance on the inside of the jacket. The quilt is a traditional Grandmother's Garden quilt pattern. It was beautifully hand sewn and hand quilted using super soft, luxe cotton. This piece is as sweet as can be. Please note that the ground fabric is almond, and not white, nor was it meant to be. We used classic pink gem and pearl plastic buttons as closures. In our opinion, the jacket is very soft with a buttery and flattering drape. You can see on the pockets that the grounding fabric is darker, it is not a stain it is the variation of how the fabric faded over time. There a a few small zig zag mends that blend into the quilt. This is a size MEDIUM, please read measurements below. If you have further questions please direct message us and we are happy to send you a video.
