This quilt coat is made using an antique American quilt made circa 1890s to 1920. It is a traditional Log Cabin quilt pattern. This is an absolute piece of American Heritage, it is a relic of the frontier! The quilt has been hand quilted and hand sewn, which is a labor of love and a lost art. The quilt is made in the scrappy style and is overflowing with rare and valuable textiles from the turn-of-the-century, such as indigos, and men's shirt scraps. The maker used a windmill quilt to back(inside of jacket) the quilt. We used a vintage Levi Trucker Jacket for the collar and sleeves. For closures we chose silver Buffalo Nickel buttons. In our opinion, the quilt is thin, floppy, lightweight with little to no loft, and has a great drape! Overall, the quilt is in great condition for its age. Please note that most of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabrics reflect this. Some fabrics can be older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
