This is an Antique American quilt completed circa 1935. It is an absolute museum quality Crazy quilt. It was made as a scrapbook by family members who then gifted it as an engagement gift to the recipient. We know this because this beauty came with index cards listing out the recipient's relatives. This quilt is a hand work show off! The variety, skill, and quality of stitching present is one for the books! One of our favorite sections of the quilt depicts a scene of a horse with a detailed brand eating flowers with the lyrics "Home On the Range" stitched above. The love this family had for each other is clearly displayed by the amount of time spent creating this work of art. It's a shame the family no longer valued this heirloom but we are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with this piece.
This quilt is loaded with shirt scraps, wools, corduroys, and more! The maker chose a soft plaid flannel for the backing fabric(inside of jacket). If you are looking for a little warmth for this winter, this is a great option due to the fabrics used. This is a very thin quilt, it has no loft (puffiness or batting), it is light to medium weight. In our opinion it is a little heavier than our typical thin quilts because the amount and type of fabrics used however, in quilt terms this is still a light/medium weight. It does not feel heavy on. For closures we added 6 carved mother of pearl buttons. Overall this quilt is in excellent condition. This is a Lady Lancaster 11/10!! We cannot say enough about this piece! If you have further questions please direct message us and we are happy to send you a video.
This piece is priced without fur, however if you've been looking to add a fur color this is a great candidate! We have added a photo at the end of the listing showing a blue fur, but we also thing black would suit as well. If you are interested in this option please reach out and we will work with you to get you a fur of your choosing!
