The Aunt Ethel

This is a vintage American quilt made circa 1950s to 1970s. It is a traditional Log Cabin quilt pattern made in a very unorthodox colorway. This quilt is hand knotted with yarn instead of hand quilted. The knots add a visible texture to the quilt. We are obsessed with the fluorescent backing fabric(inside of jacket). It is reminiscent of traditional Australian Aboriginal fabrics. This jacket is a massive multitasker and can be styled in endless ways. It is thin, and has little to no loft, has an extremely flattering drape, and is very comfortable to wear. Due to the amount of fabrics in this piece it does have a little more weight or heaviness. The color palette in this Log Cabin is very rare. There is minor color bleed that has been captured in the photographs. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

 Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
