The Aunt Ethel

This is an Antique American quilt made circa 1920's-1930's. It is a traditional Trip Around The World quilt pattern. This piece has been beautifully hand quilted and hand sewn, which is a labor of love and a lost art. The quilt contains turn of the century fabrics, home spun ginghams, and men's shirt scraps. The maker gave us a sweet gift by backing this quilt (inside of jacket) with an incredible patterned novelty fabric. It depicts stars, hearts and leafy branches. This fabric can best be appreciated when the cuffs are rolled or the jacket is worn inside out. In our opinion, this piece is super soft, thin, light weight with little to no batting(loft), and has an excellent drape. It is very comfy to wear!  PLEASE NOTE: there is a small spot of sun fading in the one green square on the back of the jacket. This does not compromise the fabric. We have included a photo at the end of the listing showing off this mark. Overall, this quilt is in excellent condition. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
