The Aunt Ethel

This is an Antique American quilt made circa 1900's-1920's. It is a Traditional Postage Stamp Quilt Pattern. It is exceptional for its tiny pieces at 1 inch by 1 inch , its meticulous hand sewing, and beautiful hand quilting quilting. This quilt is overflowing with home spun ginghams, novelty fabrics from its era, and a variety of scraps from the maker's sewing box. We believe that the maker backed this quilt at a different time than when they finished the top. We believe this to be true because the backing fabric(inside of jacket) is a purple pink poly cotton blend. This fabric adds a fun pop of color and this can best be appreciated when the cuffs are rolled or the jacket is worn upside down. In our opinion this piece is super soft, thin, light weight and has an awesome drape. This jacket will look good with absolutely everything in your wardrobe, it reads as a neutral. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

 Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
