The Aunt Ethel

This is an Antique American quilt. Made circa 1890s-1910. It is a traditional Nine Patch quilt pattern. The quilt is overflowing with very rare and valuable antique indigo fabrics. It is unusual to find indigo quilts from the turn of the century in this condition. Not only is the front loaded with indigos, but the maker backed this quilt with a contrasting  indigo pattern. This is a true fashion multi-tasker, it looks great with everything in your closet and can be styled several ways. We have added photos at the end of this listing with the jacket worn upside down.  In our opinion this piece is very soft, thin, light weight with little to not loft, it has an excellent drape. PLEASE NOTE: there is one large spot that we mended with stitching. The mend blends seamlessly into the quilt. We have added a photo at the end of the listing for your convenience. Also there is one Nine Square that the original maker tried to preserve by adding matching mesh over the weakened fabrics. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

 Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
