The Aunt Ethel Quilt Jacket

This jacket is made from an antique American quilt top made circa 1890s to 1920s. This piece is a traditional Squire Smith's Choice quilt pattern. It is overflowing with rare and valuable indigo fabrics and men's shirt scraps. To complete the quilt we backed the top (inside of jacket) with turn-of-the-century reproduction indigo fabric. This makes the jacket look amazing when worn inside out and upside down. You will want to cuff the sleeves to show this fabric off as well! The quilt top has been beautifully hand sewn. The maker was an expert and it was beautifully executed. We love the mix of indigo and black fabrics with the pink. In our opinion, the jacket is thin, lightweight, and has a great drape. If you like to wear your Ethels inside out and upside down, this is a great option for you! This jacket will look great with absolutely everything in your wardrobe. It can be worn with black, white, or blue denim. If you’re looking for a versatile piece, it doesn’t get any better than this. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.

 Please note that many of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabrics reflect this. At times the fabrics are older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
