The Aunt Ethel Quilt Jacket

This quilt jacket is made with a very rare American antique quilt made circa 1920s to 1940s. The quilt is often referred to as a Red Cross quilt, or a Washington Sidewalk quilt pattern. Lady Lancaster laid this piece out on diagonal so the red reads like x’s. This piece has been beautifully hand quilted and hand sewn. It is museum-worthy! The red fabric is red calico. The maker backed the quilt with a cotton muslin fabric. This is what we would consider to be a summer-weight quilt, meaning it was made for aesthetics and not warmth. In our opinion, the quilt is extremely lightweight, with little to no loft(batting), very soft, and has an excellent drape. This is a Lady Lancaster 10/10. Please note, there are age marks that you can see on the inside of the jacket, but do not show through to the outside. We have photographs of this. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.

This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
