The Aunt Ethel Quilt Jacket

This quilt jacket is made from an American quilt from the turn of the century. It was made circa 1890s to 1920s and is an unusual take on the traditional Grandmother's Garden quilt pattern. This piece has been beautifully and meticulously hand pieced. It was not quilted but instead has been hand knotted. We love the texture that comes with hand-knotted quilts. In our opinion, this piece is very lightweight, but very lofty (puffiness). To be this lofty and lightweight is very rare. It feels like you are wearing a cloud. The jacket is very comfortable and it was made with very soft luxe cotton. The quilt was backed (inside of jacket) with tiny polka dot ivory backing fabric. This makes the jacket adorable when worn upside down. The piece is loaded with character. Lady Lancaster would wear this piece all summer out west. Please note: There is a subtle patch on the shoulder, it barely shows, we have included a photograph for your convenience. There are also a few zig zag mends and a few other patches. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.
• One Size Fits Most - Model is 5’4 and approximately 125lbs

 Please note that most of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabrics reflect this. Some fabrics can be older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
