The Aunt Ethel Quilt Jacket

This is an antique American quilt made circa 1880s to 1920s. It is a variation of the traditional Michigan Beauty or Arrowhead Star quilt pattern. It is a very rare pattern and quilt. This piece has been beautifully hand sewn and hand quilted. We love the rare indigo and turkey red fabrics used throughout this piece. The maker backed the quilt(inside of jacket with a very traditional turn-of-the-century fabric. This makes the jacket a great fashion multitasker, it looks great worn inside out and upside down, please see photos. This pieces looks great with denim! This piece is so historic and should be treated with care. In our opinion, the jacket is super thin, super lightweight, has little to no loft(puffiness), and has a buttery drape. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

 Please note that most of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabrics reflect this. Some fabrics can be older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
