The Aunt Ethel

This is an antique American quilt made circa 1890s to 1920s. It is a traditional Sunshine and Shadows Log Cabin quilt pattern made in a very rare colorway! This piece is a Lancaster County Mennonite quilt. It is exceptional for its tiny pieces, crisp points, meticulous hand sewing, and beautiful hand quilting. Lady Lancaster loves to wear monochrome and is crying over parting with this piece. This jacket will look like a million bucks when styled over white on white or ivory. Even though the backing fabric is not contrasting, it still looks so classy and good when worn upside down. In our opinion, the jacket is thin, lightweight, has a great drape, and was made with luxe cotton. This is a Lady Lancaster 10/10. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

 Please note that most of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabrics reflect this. Some fabrics can be older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
