The Aunt Ethel Quilt Jacket

This quilt jacket was made with an antique American quilt top made circa 1890s to 1920s. It is a very rare quilt pattern called Origami Hats. The quilt top has been hand sewn and is overflowing the rare indigo fabrics and men's shirt scraps. It almost gives a Japanese Indigo feel. Everywhere you see white is men’s shirt fabrics. To complete the orphaned quilt top, we backed the top with chocolate and indigo floral novelty fabric. In our opinion, the jacket is thin, lightweight, has very little loft, and has an excellent drape. This jacket will look good with everything in your closet! It looks great when styled inside out and upside down. Please note, there are zig zag mends throughout. This is most evident when the sleeves are cuffed. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

 Please note that most of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabrics reflect this. Some fabrics can be older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
