The Aunt Ethel

This is an American antique Cheater quilt. It was made circa 1890s to 1920s and is actually a cheater quilt. This means that the fabric has printed patchwork and it is not actually hand pieced. The maker hand quilted over the patchwork fabric. Cheater quilter quilts from this era are extremely rare and we love this jacket! We love the southwest vibe and contrasting fabric on the inside of the jacket. The inside of the jacket is a traditional Bars quilt that is hand pieced. You will want to cuff the sleeves or wear the jacket inside out to show this off. The quilt is made with a very luxe soft cotton. It is a dream to wear and feels like a giant cloud hug. It does have a little loft(puffiness). This piece can be worn and styled so many ways, including upside down. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
