The Aunt Ethel

This is an antique American quilt. It appears that the quilt top was made circa 1890s to 1920s and backed at a later time. This quilt pattern has been called many names throughout the years. Our favorites are Double Monkey Wrench, Churn Dash, Shoo Fly, and Hole-In-The-Barn-Door. The quilt has been beautifully hand pieced and hand quilted. This is a summer weight quilt meaning that it was made more for aesthetics rather than warmth. There is no batting or loft. This is a a perfect jacket for you if you live in warmer climate! This piece looks great worn upside down or with the sleeves cuffed. In our opinion, the jacket is super thin, soft, lightweight, and has a very buttery drape. There is some very subtle color bleed or age tanning, but it was too subtle to capture! Please note, there is also a zig zag mend on the shawl. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.
• One Size Fits Most - Model is 5’4 and approximately 125lbs

 Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
