The Aunt Ethel

This is an Antique American quilt made circa 1900-1940's. It is a Mosaic quilt pattern. This piece contains rare and valuable antique indigo fabrics from the turn of the century. It has been hand quilted, which is a labor of love and a lost art. We believe that the quilt top was made at a different time than it was finished. The maker backed the top with a plain white fabric from a newer era than the traditional indigo fabrics. In our opinion the quilt is soft, light weight and has a little bit of loft(puffiness). Please Note: There is sun bleaching throughout this quilt that does not affect the integrity of the fabrics.  The bleaching adds an ombre patina to the blues.  There are a few very minor age spots on the inside of the jacket. We struggled to capture them with our hi-res images, so we have included an iphone photo at the end of the listing. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.
• One Size Fits Most - Model is 5’4 and approximately 125lbs

 Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
