This is an American antique quilt made circa 1890’s to 1910. This quilt pattern has been called many names throughout the years such as Double 9 Patch, Single Irish Chain, and Golden Steps. The maker made this quilt with an elevated border. We were able to preserve and show off this border on the cuffs of the jacket. The quilt is hand sewn with very tiny pieces and beautifully hand quilted. This piece was made by a master. Please Note: the ground fabric is not white and it was never meant to be white, it is more of a vanilla bean or an almond. This is very classic Americana, it is an absolute heritage piece. It will look good with everything in your closet. In our opinion the quilt is very thin, very soft, very lightweight, and has a great drape. Please note: There is mild and subtle tanning throughout, it was very hard to photograph, but we did try. The back of the quilt(inside of jacket) is a cotton muslin fabric and has a handful of age spot. There are also many zig zag mends throughout. Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
