This is an antique American quilt completed in 1896. We know this because the maker, GWF, gave us the gift of hand embroidering the provenance of this piece. We presevered the date and initials on the shawl. This piece is museum-worthy for its meticulous hand quilting, hand sewing, and beautiful hand appliqued stitching. The quilt is a traditional Lone Star quilt pattern with a beautiful applique border. We wanted to show off this border and displayed it prominently on the shawl and cuffs. This is what we consider to be a summer weight quilt meaning that it was not made for warmth or comfort, but rather, aesthetics and gives this jacket a great drape. This piece is very soft. Please note: there is a tiny spot of sun bleaching on the back but this does not affect the integrity of the fabric. There is This is a special piece and a Lady Lancaster 10/10.
