The Aunt Ethel

This is an Antique American quilt top that we backed with reproduction indigo fabric from the same era. The quilt top was made circa 1890's-1920's. It is a not a traditional Log Cabin quilt pattern. The maker alternated Log Cabin quilt blocks with simpler square blocks and hand appliqued the center red square. The center red square in the log cabin patch represents the fire burning inside the home. The quilt top is hand pieced, however, it is not hand quilted. Our good friend Zoe dawn quilted this on her long arm. In our opinion the quilt is thin, soft, light weight, and has a great drape. The quilt top is filled with fabrics from the turn of the century, there are many men's shirt scarps as well as valuable indigos. This jacket is fashion multi tasker. You can wear in inside out, upside down, and you will definitely want to cuff the sleeves. If you have further questions, please direct message us and we are happy to send you a video. 

• The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

 Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
