The Aunt Ethel

This is an American antique quilt made circa 1930’s to 1950’s. It is a traditional Lone Star Quilt Pattern. This piece was made by a master! It is exceptional for its beautiful hand sewing and meticulous hand quilting, however, there is a spot or two of machine quilting. This palette is extremely unusual for its time period. We consider this quilt to be a summer weight quilt, which means it was made for beauty and aesthetics, not for warmth. There is no batting which makes this quilt extremely thin and lightweight. If you live in a warmer climate this is an excellent option for you. The maker backed the quilt(inside of jacket) with a coordinating pastel purple fabric. You will want to show this off by cuffing the sleeves. The jacket is very soft, very comfortable to wear, and has a flattering drape. Please note: There are faint age spots and color bleed on the inside of the jacket that do not show through to the exterior.  We have included a photo in the listing for your convenience. If you have further questions, please direct message us and we are happy to send you a video. 

• The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.
• One Size Fits Most - Model is 5’4 and approximately 125lbs

 Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
