The Aunt Ethel

This is an American antique quilt made circa 1900-1920’s. This pattern has been referred to by many names over the years such as Old Maid's Puzzle, Hour Glass, or School Girl's Puzzle. The quilt has been beautifully hand quilted and hand sewn. This piece was made by a master and it was found in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The quilt contains men’s shirts scraps and other rare and valuable fabrics from its era. If you look closely you can find fabric with golf clubs and balls. This piece is a fine example of American Heritage. We love how neutral and classic it reads. In our opinion the quilt is thin, very soft, very lightweight, and has an excellent drape. There are a few small age marks inside the jacket which we have photographed for your convenience. There is also subtle tanning on the back of the jacket, we have tried to capture this in the photos provided in this listing. If you have further questions, please direct message us and we are happy to send you a video. 

• The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

 Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
