The Aunt Ethel

This is an American antique quilt. According to the note we received from the family, they believe the quilt was completed in 1910 by their grandmother Dora, “Pearl”.  We have saved a photo of the family’s note and have included it in the listing for your review. This is a traditional Log Cabin quilt pattern. We love the cheddar fabric centers of the log cabins, this is said to represent fire burning within the home. The quilt is both hand sewn and hand quilted. In our opinion the quilt is very thin, very lightweight, very soft, and has an average drape. It does have a little loft (puffiness). Pearl backed this quilt with a cotton muslin fabric. Please note there is a small spot on the top of the shawl. We have added a photo of this for your convenience. • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
• This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
• The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.
• One Size Fits Most - Model is 5’4 and approximately 125lbs

 Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
