This quilt would make an excellent Market Jacket, Blazer or Duster. It is a heavier quilt so if weight bothers you you should stick to a Market Jacket or Blazer. This is an antique American Quilt and was started in 1930 and finished in 1994 by Arlene McClain. We know this because the maker gave the sweet gift of hand embroidering theses dates into the quilt. It is a traditional Crazy quilt made in the Scrappy quilt style. The piece is filled with wools, silks, plaids, and men's shirt scraps. The quilt has been hand sewn and is filled with beautiful handwork! There was no lack of love for this quilt and we know this by the amount of small hand embroidery stitches that are throughout this piece. This quilt will make a very cozy jacket because the maker backed this with a plaid flannel fabric. They also added hand knotting to the backing. If you live in a warm climate we do not recommend this jacket, unless you plan on taking a ski trip or frequent the lake or mountains!
