The Helen is a mid-length jacket that falls right above the knee. This is an American, antique quilt made circa 1900-1930’s. It is a quintessential crazy quilt and has been made of many scraps saved up over the years from the maker’s sewing box. The fabrics in this piece are cottons, wools, polys, and flannels. It is important to note that the quilt top was made a lot earlier than the backing. This quilt was backed in a more contemporary era. This beauty is loaded with hand-stitched turkey track stitching in multiple colored threads. This is the definition of wearable art. Please note: there are one or two patches that show some fraying.
This is a warm, and mid to heavy-weight piece so if you live in a hot climate, this is not a good choice for you.
This jacket features side slits for generous movement and a beautiful drape.
This jacket has two clear snaps at the tips of the collar that secure the lapel if desired.
This jacket has two pockets.
Fold the architectural collar down to create a lapel if desired.
The Helen Jacket has a generous fit and is not meant to have a tailored look.

Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
