This is an American Antique quilt was completed in 1935 by L. Laye. We preserved the maker's date and name and placed it on the inside of the jackets shawl collar. Throughout history this quilt pattern has been called the Pineapple, Maltese Cross, and the Chestnut Burr. The quilt has been beautifully hand quilted. It is also hand sewn, but the hand stitches are not exceptionally dense so there are some gappy areas with the hand sewing. This is impossible to show in the images because there are no obvious problems but the fact still remains that the stitches are loose in some areas. If you want a video we will try our hardest to show this detail. It goes without saying that the blue calico fabric on the inside is a stunning compliment to this piece. As a result, the jacket is beautiful worn inside out, please see photos at the end of this listing. In our opinion the quilt is very thin, very soft, very light weight and has a great drape. The jacket is very flattering and comfortable to wear. If you have further questions, please direct message us and we are happy to send you a video.

Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
