This is an American, antique quilt made circa 1890's- 1915. It is a traditional crazy quilt with an excessive amount of hand embroidery. The maker would have spent hundreds of hours making this piece. We added pearl buttons from Japan. This is a true piece of wearable folk art. PLEASE NOTE: This piece is extremely delicate and should not be worn for comfort but only for aesthetics. It should be well cared for as the specific type of embroidery on this quilt is rarely seen. The stitches are done in yarn instead of embroidery thread. The inside of the jacket is a gorgeous silk fabric that adds a beautiful contrast to the overall appearance. This is an extremely thin, light weight jacket, it is considered a summer weight quilt. It was never made for comfort or warmth. But strictly made for aesthetics and art. This is a piece for a collector.
