This is an American Antique quilt. We are unable to credibly date this quilt, however we know it was most likely pre-1959 because Alaska and Hawaii were not included on the quilt. This quilt is made using a hand embroidery technique called Red Work. The art of Red Work became popular around 1900-1903. This specific quilt is special because it has the states names and a motif of their state flower. This jacket is a total conversation piece and a great Party Trick. The embroidery and hand quilting on this quilt are exceptional. It is in excellent condition! In our opinion the quilt is very soft, very thin, with a little loft(puffiness), and has excellent drape. It is a Lady Lancaster 10/10. If you have further questions please direct message us and we are happy to send you a video.

Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
