This is an american, Antique quilt made circa 1890's-1910. It is a 36-patch quilt pattern. Lady Lancaster found this quilt in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It is meticulously hand quilted and hand sewn. This is a great fabric study of the era as it contains novelty fabrics that we have never seen or worked with before. For example, the small dog fabric that we have shown a photo of in this listing and quite a few other fabrics. This piece was not made in a humble home, these fabrics are not scraps, this is a piece of art. Please also note the triangular border which we have tried to preserve. This quilt is predominantly made of squares hence the 36 patch pattern. However, the maker went to great care to add a different orientation for the border. This piece is a true rescue as we have had to patch several squares and there are age marks throughout the quilt that can be seen on the white fabrics. If you look at the end of the listing, we show multiple examples. If you are fabric nerd this jacket will make all of your dreams come true. The back of the quilt (inside of jacket) is all home spun gingham. Because this is a true rescue the fabric is more frail than most of our jackets, the price reflects the potential frail fabric. Like all of our Helen's this jacket was made to be worn on the reverse and is going to look amazing worn inside out, the gingham that is on the inside of this jacket is in excellent condition and if you like earth tones or neutrals you will love wearing this piece inside out.
