This is an Antique American quilt made circa 1890's-1915. This is a large scale variation of the Broken Star quilt pattern. This pattern is extremely rare. The quilt is extraordinary for its museum-quality dense hand quilting, its meticulous hand sewing, and its elevated sawtooth border. We cannot emphasize enough how rare and unusual the color combo and technical skills are in this piece. We added vintage Levi denim sleeves and collar to the quilt because it was not large enough to get quilted sleeves. We love the contrasting cotton chambray backing fabric (inside of jacket). We have added antique wooden barrel buttons as closures and a story book tag from the same era the quilt was made. PLEASE NOTE: After Lady Lancaster modeled the jacket she adjusted the pocket height which alters the layout slightly but allows better function and comfort out of the jacket. Please see iphone photos and videos at the end of the listing for an redacted image of the jacket. In our opinion this piece is very light weight, very thin, very soft, and has a perfect drape! Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
