This is an American, antique quilt made circa 1916 and the maker was kind enough to stitch her initials into the quilt, C. R. L. This is considered a crazy quilt as it is contains many different fabric scraps such as wools, cottons, felts, tweeds. The turkey track hand embroidery on this piece is masterful. In other words, this piece is an exceptional showcase of hand work as appreciated for each and every stitch. The backing of the quilt (inside of the jacket) is a floral flannel. Surprisingly, this quilt is actually very thin and light weight. However, it will be warmer than our cotton quilts because of the flannel lining and the presence of wool. We have added antique, roman buttons as closures down the front of this jacket. Please note as shown in the photos we have not attached our typical two pockets to the front of this piece because it was impossible to have the pockets blend perfectly with the direction of the quilt pattern. We have the pockets cut and will be happy to assemble them for you upon purchase if you would like. Please ask any questions about this as we would be happy to show you photos of the pockets and how it would look with pockets attached. This quilt is in exquisite condition for its age, typically crazy quilts do not stand the test of time as well as the cotton quilts.
This jacket best fits a size 0-8 depending on styling preferences and bust size. We consider this to be a size small. Please reference measurements before purchasing for a specific fit.
50” top of the back of neck to the bottom of the hem
22” laying flat, armpit to armpit, buttoned jacket
22” shoulder seam to the bottom of the arm, uncuffed
Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
