This is an authentic, antique American quilt made circa the 1930s-1940s. This piece is a variation on the Martha Washington's Garden quilt pattern. This piece is hand-quilted and hand-sewn, which is a labor of love, and a dying art. it is backed with antique muslin fabric. It is important to note that the backing, inside of the jacket, has a couple of age marks that we could not remove during the washing process. They do not show through to the outside of the quilt but if this is something that would bother you, this is not a good jacket for you. We try very hard to describe every detail of the quilt so that you can be as educated as possible when trying to find your perfect mate. The fabrics in this quilt are beautiful and the combinations are unusual.
Please note: there are several patches on this quilt. We tried to photograph them but they did not show up very well in the photographs. If you would like more photos or a video, please direct message us and we would be happy to send you a video.
We consider the quilt to be very thin, lightweight, little to no loft (puffiness) with a great drape.
This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
- The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
