This is an authentic, antique American quilt made circa the 1890s-1920s. It is the traditional Bow Tie or Neck Tie quilt pattern. This piece is beautifully hand-quilted and masterfully hand-sewn. This quilt contains a wide array of beautiful fabrics from its era including some very rare and historic indigos. We are especially smitten with the black calico fabric on the backing of the quilt, and inside of the jacket. This can best be seen when the cuffs are rolled or the jacket is worn upside down. We have attempted to show you photos of this at the end of the listing. If you like to wear your Ethel jackets upside down, this is an excellent piece for you. We think it looks fabulous styled both ways.
In our opinion, we consider this quilt to be thin, soft, and lightweight, with a little loft.
This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
- The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
